The ancient Egyptians believed that before a person could get to the afterlife, that they had to pass through the underworld. The underworld was a place that was full of terrifying monsters and dangerous animals. A person would need magic to successfully overcome these threats.

Form 3 Egyptian Morning
Form 3 took part in the second of their Egyptian mornings, this time run by Catherine Conyard from Historical Interpretations. Children got the chance to handle artefacts and had to try and work out what they were - the most difficult ones are pictured below. The long wooden artefact is in fact a drill and the dark wooden artefact on the bench is a wooden pillow! Children also played Egyptian games and mummified a body in preparation for its journey to the afterlife. It was a great morning and children learnt lots of new facts about the period. We are learning about the Ancient Egyptians in History. We have been learning about their daily life and had a go at creating our own tomb paintings.
